Jacqueline Fernandez hails from Manama in Bahrain. She grew up in an ethnically diverse family. Jacqueline's father Elroy is Sri Lankan (Catholic Sinhalese) and her mother, Kim, a Malaysian. Jacqueline is the youngest of two brothers and a brother who is older. In the wake of turmoil in the country, her parents moved to Bahrain during the 1980s. She received a scholarship to study at in the University of Sydney in Sydney Australia following the completion of her schooling in Bahrain. Having a passion for cultures and languages she also was a part of the Berlitz school of languages where she learned to speak Spanish and improved her French and Arabic. Miss Sri Lanka 2006 competed for Miss Universe 2006 as well as Miss Universe 2006 when she took home the title in 2006. As a result of winning Miss Sri Lanka in 2006, Padukone began working on television. She was the host of the program Lanka Business Report which focused on business in Sri Lanka. Padukone (the daughter of former badminton player Prakash Padukone) was born and grew up in Bangalore. As a teenager, Padukone competed in national championships of badminton at both the regional and international levels. She later quit the sport to pursue a career as a designer. Padukone comes from Mangalore and her native language is Konkani. Padukone is located within the Kundapura Taluk located in Udupi in Karnataka State of India, is where her family is derived from. Prakash Padukone is her father as well as a former badminton pro with international recognition. Her mother is an agent for travel.
